Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, sell some property and give the money to the apostles, but they hold back some for themselves. Peter confronts Ananias and Sapphira about this and they both die.

Chapter 1
Luke begins this book by addressing Theophilus, the person he’s writing to, and explaining the reason for this book. Jesus orders the apostles to stay in Jerusalem until they are given the promised Holy Spirit.

John 17 — Jesus prays in thankfulness to the Father for his impending glory, for the disciples whom the Father has given him, and the rest of those in the world who will believe in Jesus through the disciples.

John 1 — John begins his gospels describing the Word becoming flesh. In the beginning the Word existed, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John the Baptist is sent from God to bear witness.
New Testament Outline: Luke 22-24
Luke 22 — The chief priest and the scribes are looking for a way to arrest Jesus. Judas Iscariot goes to them and agrees to give Jesus up for some money.

Luke 19 — Jesus enters Jericho and there a short tax collector named Zacchaeus climbs a tree to see Jesus. Jesus says that he must stay at his house. Jesus tells the parable of the ten minas.
New Testament Outline: Luke 16-18
Luke 16 — Jesus tells the parable of the dishonest manager. The Pharisees heard what Jesus was saying and ridicule him for it. Jesus responds by talking about the law and the kingdom of God. He teaches on divorce and remarriage. Jesus tell the parable of the rich man and Lazarus.
Luke 17 — To his disciples Jesus teaches them about temptations to sin, having faith, and he tells them the parable of the unworthy servants. On the way to Jerusalem ten lepers come out to Jesus and he heals all of them but only one returns praising God. The Pharisees ask Jesus when the kingdom of God will come and Jesus explains that it’s here in the midst of them.
